As Head of R&D and Method Development, Mario leads the technical team on testing new methods as well as the continuous improvement of existing methods, ensuring that AlphaBiolabs remains at the forefront of innovation in toxicology testing.

Prior to joining AlphaBiolabs, Mario worked for 20 years as a Forensic Toxicologist at the Portuguese National Institute of Forensic Medicine, where he developed and implemented hair testing services. He holds a degree in pharmaceutical sciences, a master’s degree in forensic medicine, and a PhD in biomedicine, specialising in forensic toxicology.

A board member of the Society of Hair Testing, Mario has also led and contributed to research projects examining drug and alcohol consumption patterns using hair testing.
